Jane Austen Society

Jane Austen Society Hunter Branch will Present “The History of England by a partial, prejudiced and
ignorant Historian” – Jane Austen
Presented by: Margaret Steinberger
The History of England by a partial, prejudiced and ignorant historian was written by Jane Austen
when she was just 15. With illustrations by her sister Cassandra, the book is a parody of the weighty
schoolroom history books published in Jane’s time, and has the encouraging subtitle ‘NB there will
be very few dates in this history’.
In this coronation year, come along to hear members of the Jane Austen Society Hunter perform a
cover-to-cover reading of the light-hearted, lively and very short The History of England, then join in
discussion and a fun quiz.
Quiz Presented by: Carolyn Cossgrove
All welcome.
