FRINGE CURIOUS? HEAD TO OUR POP-UP BOX OFFICE & FRINGE HUB IN HAMILTON!
Newcastle Fringe Festival officially kicks off on Thursday 9 March with two amazing weekends of performances. We are so excited this year to call Hamilton our Fringe Hub with multiple venues down Beaumont St and our pop-up Box Office and performance space launching at James St Plaza, Hamilton offering a free taste of all the fun and frolic of Newcastle’s own fringe festival.
Designed to give everyone a taste of what sort of entertainment can be expected at the festival, there is something for the whole family to enjoy at James St Plaza. This is a family-friendly and free event so come on in and enjoy a taste of the Fringe!
Check out our program of activities for each of our open days below.

Saturday 11 March
From 5.30pm to 8pm in the James St Plaza, the Fringe Box Office will be open to sell tickets and to answer all your Fringe related questions. There will be Face painting by Kingdom Kids Face painting, a free show by Fringe Musical Act Midnight Removalists, roving musical entertainment by children’s performer Lizzieland and the Pretty Amazing Jono with the afternoon MC’d by Newcastle’s comedy queen Eddy Rockefeller. To top the night off, watch the sun disappear with an incredible fire performance from The Flaming Jesters.
Saturday 18 March
From 12pm to 1pm there will be free lunchtime entertainment in James St Plaza with free face painting for the kids and performances by the Pretty Amazing Jono and Fringe children’s favourite, the disgusting Mr Snotbottom, who will delight the whole family with his gross-tastic gags!
From 5.30pm to 8pm the roving program and James St Plaza entertainment kicks off again with street performers Pretty Amazing Jono, Rachel on stilts, JD Magic, a touch of burlesque with Fringe artists Dollhaus and Pilot Buffalo. Comedian Kelly Mac, fresh from her Fringe show Wrong Side of 50, will MC the night with more from Mr Snotbottom and as the sun sets, the thrills, spills and fire of The Flaming Jesters lighting up the night sky.
